We Have Somewhere To Eat

We finally got our table!

... oh wait, it's damaged. :( That's right. After waiting patiently for our table to arrive we opened up the box to discover a chewed up table top and two damaged stool seats. We were a tad bit annoyed, but contacted the company we bought it from and they have been working with us to get us a new one. However, Josh and I are impatient and we feel we've lived without a table for long enough. So, instead of taking the whole set apart, shipping it back, waiting for a whole new set to come, and then putting everything together again... plus being true Josh and Sydney style, we've decided to get 15% off of the purchase price and just live with what we have been given.

Other than the damage, Josh and I are very pleased with our purchase. It's just the right fit for our little apartment and the colors look great with everything else.

So, here we go. Here is our horrible "before closet." One shelf to hang our clothes on. We were shoving as many clothes as we could into our dresser, and the rest we were forced to throw random places in the closet.

TA DA! Our fantastic "after closet!" We finally made it to Lowes where we picked up a new rod. Then Josh removed the previous shelf and raised it so we could put the second one below. Now we can fit more clothes in this closet than we could in the last one we had! (Pictures don't quite do it justice, but we love it.)

While at lowes we also found some tools to build josh a tie holder. It works great, looks great, and fits all his ties! And it's the picture that makes it look crooked. We didn't hang it that badly. :)

Installment #2 of Joshua and Sydney's Apartment videos has now been filmed. We decided to do it late Sunday night. We should have done it during the day, but that's how it goes. Enjoy our weirdness.

School is pretty tough, but definitely do-able. We'll see how I feel about that when I get to

Anatomy and such. Syd is going on a "trial" dog walking trip with her future employer. Things are going pretty good.
For those of you who didn't know, this apartment is much different than the apartment we originally were going to move into. That one won't be finished until November, so we found a different place. We really like it a lot so far. It's only a 10ish minute walk to school for me.

White Coat Ceremony

Today was the White Coat Ceremony and boy was it exciting. I felt like a celebrity with all those Mom's pointing their cameras at all those new medical students as we walked by. You can see me putting on my prestigious white coat in the following video.

It's a relief and kind of a shock that it's already here and the next big thing is for classes to start on Monday. I'm incredibly nervous at the same time as I'm really excited. Sydney and I love Richmond so far. We WALKED to a restaurant tonight to celebrate, that's how "downtown" we live. I love it. What We Do Know About Our VA Apartment...

Here are a few pictures (really poor quality ones) of our apartment in Richmond. This isn't our exact one, but you get the general feel. It's a little small (660 square feet), but it's within walking distance to school and it's got almost everything that we want. Washer & Dryer, 1.5 Bath, Hardwood floors, New appliances, it's a LOFT! We're pretty excited about it. They are building the apartments right now as we speak, and we are going to be the first ones to live there. That's exciting.












I'm getting anxious for school to start, and anxious for it not to start. Let's hope it goes well. We're excited to be moving all the way across the country, living in a new place, and starting a whole new life. Syd is trying to get a job as a dog-walker, which would be a lot of fun! The plan right now is to leave on August 6th with the moving truck, towing our car & see how many of the 32 hours we can do straight! I'm pretty hardcore. We might try to do it in one shot.

We're definitely going to miss our families though. It's been a great summer where both Syd and I have only worked part-time and had plenty of time to visit and spend time with the ones we love. Thanks heavens for that.

A 38 Year Old Work of Art!

On Tuesday, Sydney and I decided that we would head down to Mapleton to see her hilarious Grandparents who were visiting from Nevada. (Quote from her Grandpa Kay when he was introducing me to someone else in the family. "Oh, he's going to nail old what's-her-face over there..." I about died laughing) It didn't look like we were going to make it down to visit them before we headed off to Virginia, so we decided to make the trip down to say hi. The best part is we chose to take my 1971 Honda CB450 motorcycle! Oh yeah!













It pretty much was a sweet trip and the bike ran like a dream. We did happen to lose our license plate and rear tail light. (the poor thing wasn't used to freeway speeds, even though I had tested it up the canyon at 85+) Of course, knowing my luck, we'd be pulled over by a cop. That is now the 16th time I've been pulled over by an officer of the law. He was pretty understanding, and Sydney and I are safely back in Logan so I could get back to work. All in all, it was a blast!

Floating El Provo!!!

For the 4th of July, we decided to get the families together and float the Provo river. Sydney and I did it last year with a few of them, but we got both gangs together and braved the rapids.

It was tons of tons of fun, and Jim brought his waterproof camera!

The water was definitely high and fast this year. Did I mention freezing? The "rapids" were sweet, the current was swift, & the Bridge of Death was no match for our bravery (all but Adam and my Father, who were sucked under!).

It was a pretty good 4th of July. We spent the rest of the afternoon at Grandma Audrey's watching the parades and having a delicious meal. We ended the day with fireworks and went to bed. Needless to say that Syd and I were tired. We had driven down from Logan the night before, and got to South Jordan around midnight. We then stayed up talking with Adam, Merrick, and Tanner till around 2:30am. Sleep is good.
